Film-making Workshop
for Peruvian Youth
In partnership with Suyakuy Productions
During December 2016, in Chulucanas, Peru, Llama Film hosted its second workshop, providing participants with an immersive exploration of filmmaking essentials. Topics covered included storytelling, camera operation, lighting techniques, editing, and sound design.
Through a combination of hands-on exercises and mentorship, attendees gained practical insights into the intricacies of filmmaking, enabling them to confidently bring their creative visions to life.
Behind the Scenes: Making of a Film
I mentored the youth as they brought their own vision to life, guiding them through the creation of a captivating fictional short film that was entirely their brainchild.
Participants were granted full creative autonomy to both script and direct their narratives. This workshop served as a catalyst for fostering creativity and self-expression among young individuals through the dynamic medium of film. Moreover, it equipped them with invaluable skills in teamwork, project management, and self-assurance, which transcend beyond the realm of filmmaking.

Project Summary: Participants were carefully chosen through an interview process conducted within low-income communities in Yapatera and the surrounding rural areas, resulting in the selection of a group comprising 20 young individuals. Emphasis was placed on selecting motivated candidates who stood to benefit significantly from engaging in this workshop.
The workshop primarily revolved around practical activities. The entire group delved into both pre and post-production phases, acquiring fundamental skills in cinematography and film theory. They collaboratively crafted, filmed, and edited segments of their documentary under the guidance of seasoned professionals.
Upon completion, the participants were awarded certificates to commemorate their involvement.
Following the submission of the film to various festivals, DVD copies were produced and distributed to each participant.
